APC Urges INEC to Deregister ADC Over Alleged Lack of Electoral Value
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the opposition coalition party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC)
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the opposition coalition party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), claiming it lacks electoral relevance ahead of the upcoming general elections.
At a press conference in Abuja, the party’s National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, criticized the ADC for failing to convert its claimed political strength into actual electoral success. He pointed out that since the coalition emerged, it has not won any significant positions, including failing to secure any chairmanship or councillorship seats in the FCT Area Council elections.
Basiru also condemned the ADC for attacking INEC and calling for the removal of its chairman, Joash Ojo Amupitan, and other commissioners. He argued that such demands are inappropriate and questioned who would appoint replacements if they were removed.
He further accused the ADC of disregarding legal processes, noting that instead of seeking resolution through the courts, the party has chosen to challenge INEC publicly while still planning to proceed with its activities, including holding a convention.
According to him, the ADC should resolve its internal issues and respect the rule of law rather than blaming President Bola Tinubu or the APC for its challenges.
